Marquez Racing is back for some summer fun! Originally, the plan was to race the Summer Stampede only, but my dad and I agreed to race INDY weekend to let me get comfortable again!
Unfortunately, Beauty (yes, that’s my racecar’s name) was not ready for the first night of racing (June 8th), so dad and I spent the evening finishing up work on her. The next day was rained out, so that turned into an extra family day to be with family from Ohio and San Antonio! Finally, Saturday morning came and it was time to race! I was so nervous (and apparently grumpy), but it all went away as soon as I got on the track! Because Friday was rained out, we raced doubles Saturday. Since my first round on the track, I felt an odd vibration coming from the right rear, but nothing was noticeable, so I continued racing. There were times, it got worse and would cause me to lose control, but then it was fine - weird, right? Right now, the vibration is our goal to figure out! Unknowingly, I got 3rd in the first race and 5th/last on the last race. I had trouble understanding radio on the last feature (more like the whole time)… I mean, it’s pretty hard to understand mumbling while hearing an engine roaring and when they press the “talk” button mid sentence sometimes, so I hope the tower wasn’t upset with me if they tried to reach me! If so, sorry, y’all! Ha! Anyways, even though it’s only 3rd out of 5, I was still proud of myself! Overall, I had an amazing time. I couldn’t of done it without my dad for working his butt off to get everything ready, my mom, siblings, family all around, boyfriend, and friends for being supportive and encouraging! Also, everyone in the Legends family were helpful and welcoming, which helped me calm down a lot! Summer Stampede begins next Thursday (June 22nd), so we are going to work on Beauty! I’m pumped! |
